§ 15-278. Permits required.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person to, or cause to, destroy, permanently injure, or remove any protected tree as defined in this article without first obtaining a tree removal permit or other removal authorization or otherwise establish that the protected tree qualifies for an exception or exemption as provided in this article.
(b)
Nothing contained in this ordinance shall be deemed to impose any liability upon the county, its officers, or employees, nor to relieve the owner of any private property from the duty to keep any tree, shrub, or plant upon any area of his/her property or under his/her control in such condition as to prevent it from constituting a hazard or an impediment to travel or vision upon any private road or public right-of-way, park, or other public place within the county.
(c)
Nothing contained herein shall prevent a property owner from maintenance or trimming of trees on his/her property. In fact, proper trimming should be a necessary responsibility of every property owner such that no severe tree trimming occurs.
