§ 20-131. Required; exceptions.

  • Every person owning or acting as agent for the owner of any business or service which furnishes, operates, conducts, maintains, advertises, engages in, proposes to engage in, or professes to engage in the business or service of transporting persons who are confined to wheelchairs or stretchers and whose medical condition is such that these persons do not need, nor are likely to need, immediate medical attention during transport upon the streets, highways, waterways or airways of the county, shall be licensed through the EMSO as an alternative transportation service. For purposes of this division, licensure as an alternative transportation service shall be deemed to include wheelchair, stretcher car and other Paratransit services.
