§ 20-186. Enforcement of claim against estate of recipient.

  • The acceptance of general assistance or benefits shall create a debt of the person accepting such assistance or benefits, payment of such debt to be enforceable only after the death of the recipient as hereinafter provided. After the death of such person and within the time prescribed by law, the county may file a claim against the estate of such recipient for the total amount of assistance paid by or through the county social services department to or for the benefit of such recipient upon the article becoming law, and for which reimbursement has not previously been made. Claims so filed shall take the same priority as class seven claims in F.S. § 733.707(1)(g).
