§ 2-307. Order of succession to the post of director of emergency management.

  • (a)

    During a state of duly declared local emergency, if due to physical absence from the county, or injury or illness, or any other reason, the county chairman of Orange County is unable to serve as director of emergency management or unable to fully exercise the emergency powers granted to him or her by section 2-306 hereof, then, any and all of such emergency powers may be executed by the county officer next in the following order of succession; who shall serve as acting director of emergency management until the county chairman of Orange County is able to act as director of emergency management:

    (1)

    The county administrator;

    (2)

    Director of public safety;

    (3)

    Deputy county administrator, in order of date of appointment;

    (4)

    Director, county fire rescue department;

    (5)

    Director, public works department;

    (6)

    Director, utilities department.

    (b)

    Any person serving as director of emergency management may designate, by names and in writing, a county officer or employee to act as temporary acting director of emergency management in lieu of the designating authority. Such designation shall be valid for a period of not more than eight (8) hours from the time of such written designation.
