§ 2-174. Membership.

  • (a)

    The county research and development authority shall be composed of seven (7) members. Six (6) of the members shall be appointed by the board of county commissioners, and the seventh member shall be, ex-officio, the president of the University of Central Florida or the president's designee.

    (b)

    One (1) of the members appointed by the board of county commissioners shall be designated as a "university representative." The university representative to the authority shall be appointed by the board of county commissioners after soliciting from the president of the University of Central Florida not less than three (3) nominations for the position of university representative to the authority. The appointments by the board of county commissioners of the university representative shall be exempt from the provision of Ordinance No. 91-21 [article VI of this chapter] regarding qualifications and requirements for membership on an advisory board.

    (c)

    The terms, qualifications, powers and duties of these members shall be as provided in F.S. ch. 159, pt. V (F.S. § 159.701 et seq.), as amended from time to time. New appointments or reappointments shall take place as provided by general law.

    (d)

    The board of county commissioners may appoint one (1) or more county commissioners to serve as non-voting advisors to the county research and development authority and representatives of the board of county commissioners to that authority.
