§ 2-193. Composition.

  • The Orange County Citizen Review Board shall consist of nine (9) members to be appointed in the following manner:

    (1)

    Two (2) members to be appointed by the office of sheriff.

    (2)

    Seven (7) members as follows: The county chairman and each district commissioner shall appoint one (1) member.

    (3)

    The county chairman and each commissioner's appointment shall take effect only if confirmed by vote of the board of county commissioners, hereinafter sometimes referred to as the "board." If for any reason an appointment is not confirmed by the board, a new appointment shall be made by the same district commissioner or by the chairman, as appropriate. The new appointment shall likewise require confirmation by the board.

    (4)

    The composition of the citizen review board shall endeavor to reflect the ethnic, racial and economic diversity of the county and all members shall serve pursuant to the provisions set forth in section 801 of the Orange County Charter.

    (5)

    Citizen review board members serve on a voluntary basis and shall not receive any compensation except for reimbursement of direct out of pocket expenses, if any, as allowed under Florida law and county rules and regulations.

    (6)

    Citizen review board members must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, have no criminal convictions and shall be residents of the county.

    (7)

    Elected officials may not serve on the citizen review board.
