§ 2-196. Duties and powers.

  • The citizen review board shall review citizen complaints and departmental investigations thereof regarding the alleged use of excessive force or abuse of power by any officer or employee of the office of sheriff. The citizen review board or any person to whom the citizen review board delegates the authority may compel the testimony of witnesses and production of evidence through the issuance of subpoenas, and the citizen review board may administer oaths and take testimony. Upon completion of any investigation or inquiry, the citizen review board shall issue to the office of sheriff its finding of facts and recommendations.
