§ 31.5-75. Signs advertising nonresidential uses in residential districts.

  • (a)

    A maximum number of one (1) sign may be permitted on a parcel in a residential district to advertise a nonresidential use that is allowed as a permitted use or as a special exception in the residential district.

    (b)

    Such a sign shall be only a ground sign or a wall sign (facia sign), and, subject to subsections (c) through (g), such a sign shall satisfy the standards for ground signs and wall signs.

    (c)

    An EMC shall be permitted pursuant to section 31.5-16, provided it does not exceed twenty-five (25) percent of allowable copy area. Also, the EMC shall be turned off or placed in "sleep mode" from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. of the next day.

    (d)

    The minimum setback for any such sign shall be ten (10) feet from all property lines.

    (e)

    The maximum allowable copy area for any such sign shall be thirty-two (32) square feet.

    (f)

    The maximum height of any such sign that is a ground sign shall be eight (8) feet.

    (g)

    Any such sign that is a home occupation sign shall comply with subsection 31.5-13(7).
