§ 38-1230. Parking facilities.

  • (a)

    Vehicle and bicycle parking and loading facilities requirements shall meet the minimum requirements set forth in article XI of this chapter. Vehicle parking areas should be located within one hundred fifty (150) feet of the uses they serve. Parking areas shall be paved and designed with regard to pedestrian safety. Alternative parking surfaces may be permitted where frequency of use is appropriate for the proposed surface.

    (b)

    Vehicular and pedestrian passageways shall be separated on public rights-of-way. A system of walkways and bicycle paths connecting buildings, common open spaces, recreation areas, community facilities and parking areas, and transit stops shall be provided and adequately lighted for nighttime use. Within the alternative mobility area, pedestrian and bicycle access between adjacent commercial and office uses may be required to promote accessibility. On parcels more than six hundred sixty (660) feet deep, vehicular connections between adjacent commercial and office projects are required, whenever practicable.
