§ 31.5-169. Marquee signs and awning signs.

(a)

The maximum copy area of any marquee sign or awning sign shall be six (6) square feet.

(b)

The minimum clearance of any marquee sign or awning sign shall be nine (9) feet, except that if the sign extends over a vehicular travelway on the parcel, the minimum clearance shall be thirteen and one-half (13½) feet.

(c)

A marquee sign or an awning sign shall only advertise or identify the establishment or business at the building. Accordingly, a marquee sign or an awning sign shall not include changeable copy.

(d)

The maximum letter size on an awning sign shall be six (6) inches (except for the logo).

(e)

Marquee signs specified in section 31.5-13(22) shall be exempt from section 31.5-169(a), (b) and (c).
